HOMESTAY

Our international students are encouraged to experience ‘real Australian life – the Atherton version’ by becoming a part of a local homestay family.

Atherton State High School has many dedicated homestay families who have been involved in our school for many years.

The homestay facilities provide a separate room for each student, 3 meals per day and assistance with transport to and from school where appropriate.

Our homestay families also participate in special training to help with the inclusion of international students into their families.

Each family is visited by our school personnel, checked by the police and issued with a special card by the Queensland Government Children’s Commissioner when they sign on.
